How Was It Developed? In developing the PrimeTime® faith-based after school program, Scripture Union hired a national research firm to survey the current literature on what makes for an effective after school program and to examine some currently existing programs. On the basis of that research, a pilot after school program was launched in Chester, PA, a distressed urban area near Philadelphia. Next, a curriculum and start up manual were written, field tested and subsequently revised. In a unique partnership, The Salvation Army and Scripture Union co-published the first year’s PrimeTime® curriculum, The Big Story, an overview of the message of the Bible. Year two of this partership yeileded the second year's PrimeTime curriculum, Following Jesus, which is an overview of the life of Jesus throughout the bible. A third year of curriculum, Heroes of Faith, features the lives of both biblical and modern "heroes" who can serve as role models for children. Currently, PrimeTime® programs are being conducted at Salvation Army facilities in various cities around the country. |
